After Show Glow

This year's Schomberg Street Gallery did not disappoint! It was a beautiful sunny day and Main Street was filled with happy people; both artist and visitor alike. It was a perfect day for a Fine Art Show and Sale in this picturesque town.

My booth was in its usual place, just across from the Schomberg Community Hall. Along with my BFF, artist Judy Sherman, we had an awesome time, hats and all.

For the first time, Local Colour Aurora had a booth at the show. Featured were two of the LCA artists, Betty Jarvis (on the left) and Helen Simpson (on the right). This was their first outdoor art show adventure and their work looked great hung in the tent.

For me the day was perfect. Many clients and friends came out to see me. Sales were brisk. All of my new Aniline dye and acrylic on wood panel paintings found a new home. I also had the pleasure of unveiling my new figurative painting titled Steampunk Dave. I'm thinking this could be the start of a new series!

My next event will be a duo exhibition with Judy Sherman. The Colleen Abbott Gallery located in the Aurora Public Library will host our Visual Storytelling Exhibition from October 23rd to December 18th. I will be announcing the date and times of the Artists' Reception in the next blog. Stay tuned!

SSG Time Again

This Sunday, September 11th will mark the 8th year for the Schomberg Street Gallery. This will be year number 6 for me and it's a show I look forward to every fall. Great atmosphere, friendly people, and it's close to home which is a bonus when I'm doing a show.

I've been happy to see this show grow since I first popped up my tent there. This year's show boasts 40 artists creating in various mediums. Main Street in Schomberg, Ontario will be closed for the day making it easy to get personal with the artists and spend time perusing their work. I've met some wonderful people at this show, many of whom have become my clients and friends.

This year, I'll be bringing prints and cards with me as always, but I'll be showing new original paintings. Aniline dyes in reds, blues, greens and many other colours on wood panel are something new I've been working on. Using dyes allows the grain to show through and do they every make my funky building pop. I love the effect! Applying the gloss topcoat has been a bit of a nightmare, but the results have been worth it. Here's a sneak preview of one of my new pieces that you'll find at the SSG this year titled Saturn

I'm going to have a figurative piece at the SSG this year as well. This is something new I've been working on. I don't want to spoil the surprise so there won't be any sneak previews of it before the show. If you can't make it, check out my Eva Folks - Artist Facebook page on Sunday to see the painting and follow along with what I'm up to at the show.

Hope you can make it out to the SSG this year. I'll be in booth #19 just south of the Schomberg Community Hall. Make sure to stop by and say hello!
